1. Fostering empathy by active listening

Objective: to learn how to practice active listening in order to foster empathy and engage your team

We will cover:

  • Definition of empathy and how it is different from sympathy
  • The neuroscience behind empathy
  • Active listening techniques and practice – 3 types of listening and when to use them

Participants will walk away ready to step up their listening skills in a way that builds empathy and connection in their team.


2. Collaborating by building trust

Objective: to explore how we can build trust in a virtual working world

We will cover:

  • The neuroscience behind trust
  • The importance of trust – speed of trust concept
  • Identifying and overcoming barriers to trust
  • Tools for building trust when working remotely

Participants will walk away with a clear understanding of how to build trust within their team and with other teams, and with a sense of closeness to each other



(Bonus) Strengthening non-verbal communication for remote work

Objective: to learn how to better listen and connect with colleagues when working over video or audio

We will cover:

  • The importance of non-verbal communication
  • Active listening skills for audio and online video communication
  • How to establish genuine connection with your remote team
  • How to gain trust of business stakeholders you have never met in person

Participants will walk away feeling more knowledgeable and confident about communicating and collaborating remotely.



3. Embracing vulnerability

Objective: To reframe vulnerability as a strength and to understand how to leverage it to improve team performance 

We will cover:

  • Definition of vulnerability and why it is important for managers
  • Exploration of the relationship between key concepts – vulnerability, strength, courage, empathy, safety, connection and conflict
  • Overcoming the barriers to vulnerability, including cultural, organizational and personal (link to personality profiles)
  • Leveraging vulnerability as a strength

Participants will walk away with a renewed sense of safety and inspiration

"Top insights on how to lead remotely"

What makes Desi who she is? Besides her 7 year experience at Procter & Gamble leading diverse multi-functional teams, doing brand management, training and coaching, she is also a cancer survivor. She has seen how our thoughts can help us overcome the toughest challenges, she has experienced how we adapt to changes in our emotions, behavior and physical bodies and she knows how mental clarity and focus can power us through anything. 

Desi has worked with leaders in companies like Johnson & Johnson, AkzoNobel, LinkedIn and more. She is a PCC (Professional Certified Coach) and CPCC (Certified Professional Co-Active Coach) and is based in Dubai.
